Our new Partner: Manuel Bertschi

With effect from 1 December 2023, Manuel Bertschi, Attorney at Law, LL.M. has become partner at our law firm. Manuel Bertschi has broad experience in the field of media and communications law, in particular in connection with the protection of personality rights and reputation, copyright law, competition law and data protection. His advice also covers many aspects of internet activities, in particular relating to social media and rating platforms, search engines and e-commerce. In addition to advising on media law, his practice includes areas of sports and employment law, foundation and association law as well as general contract law. Manuel Bertschi advises and represents Swiss and foreign companies as well as individuals before courts of all instances. Manuel Bertschi studied law at the University of Basel (MLaw, 2014) and at Boston University (LL.M., 2017) where he specialized in Intellectual Property. He has been a lawyer since 2017 and joined Zulauf Partner as a Senior Associate in 2021. Before joining Zulauf Partner, he worked for large commercial law firms in Basel and Zurich and as a media lawyer for the Federal Office of Communications (OFCOM). He was also a co-director of Fairmedia and worked as a journalist. We look forward to a continuing successful collaboration for the good of our clients

Assaultive casting and editing of a film without consent: Director must delete footage

After an assaultive film casting, a Swiss director edited a film from the casting material without the consent of the actresses: Manuel Bertschi, Zulauf Partners, represented actresses who took legal action against the director. A settlement stops the personality-infringing activities; the footage must be deleted. More on this in the SRF – Swiss Radio a nd Television report (10vor10 of 11.4.22).
Name dispute over TX Group

On September 5, 2021, SRF television aired a news piece on the name dispute over “TX Group” in its daily news program “Tagesschau”. Rena Zulauf is interviewed on the topic of slander and stigmatization.

On June 2, 2021, TV channel 3sat broadcasted the report “Strong Women”. Business journalist Patrizia Laeri shows cases of sexism in the media and potrays women who have dared to fight back despite negative public perception and massive attacks on social media. Lawyer Rena Zulauf comments on the question of forced commercialization by the tabloid media and Jolanda Spiess-Hegglin’s legal battle over the distribution of profits to which she is entitled by law.
